Job description

The Public Policy Manager, Operations, India, will the team that works across India to support business continuity and expansion of Amazon’s operations. The scale and complexity of Amazon operations require engaging with government and non-government organisations on a wide variety of policy issues ranging from warehousing, transportation, labour to sustainability.

The candidate will be required to demonstrate value of Amazon operations to central, state and local policymakers to advocate for progressive policies. The Public Policy Manager, Operations, India will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to support our business interests, advising our leadership on policy developments, and engaging with governmental and non-governmental stakeholders to deliver results.

The role requires outstanding ability to think critically, quickly digest complex business, economic, legal, and political topics, and effectively communicate on those topics – verbally and in writing – with the highest levels of internal and external leadership.

The job is located at New Delhi.

Eligibility

The ideal candidate should have:-

  • BA/BS required; Advanced Degree (Law, Economics) preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant public policy and advocacy experience, e.g. within corporate public policy and government relations, in public administration, trade associations or non-governmental organizations, preferably at national level.

Preferred Qualifications

  • First-class oral and written communications skills, and proven ability to convey complex arguments in writing;
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly and effectively analyze materials, including but not limited to: legislative or regulatory proposals; business models, financial reporting, and strategic planning materials; and legal, policy, public relations, and other corporate documentation.
  • Ability to maintain the highest levels of personal, professional, and ethical conduct, including confidentiality, integrity, and brand reputation.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively, confidently and comfortably interact at the highest corporate and governmental levels.
  • Prior experience with steep learning curves, and a strong passion for learning new areas, diving deep to develop expert-level understanding, and identifying inventive solutions to political, economic, or business challenges
  • Ability to work in a highly ambiguous, dynamic environment, in partnership with a broad range of functions, and across local, regional and global levels
  • A highly autonomous, self-starter that can independently develop strategy, convene stakeholders, and drive projects to successful conclusion.
  • Ability to identify and understand key technical aspects pertaining to corporate operations in legislative and regulatory proposals, understand business implications, and synthesize policy documents for internal and external customers.
